Geothermal energy

Decarbonise your heat production with geothermal energy. Newheat assesses the potential of your area and develops your system, from design to operation.

solution

What is geothermal energy ?

Geothermal energy harnesses the heat naturally stored underground to produce thermal energy. It is a local, continuous and weather-independent renewable energy source: it produces the same amount of heat in summer and winter, day and night.

How does geothermal energy work ?

Boreholes are drilled to reach hot water aquifers or hot rock formations deep underground.

There are two types:

  • surface geothermal energy (boreholes up to 200 m deep coupled with a heat pump, producing heat between 40°C and 90°C),
  • deep geothermal energy (boreholes between 1,500 m and 4,000 m deep, accessing aquifers at 50–200°C).

When should geothermal energy be used ?

Where the resource exists and can be harnessed at a reasonable cost, geothermal energy is suitable for both district heating networks and industrial sites with suitable land and a need for low- or medium-temperature heat. It is used as a base load source, either on its own or to supplement other renewable sources.

customer benefits

How you benefit from integrating geothermal energy

Making the most of a local, inexhaustible resource

Geothermal energy harnesses a resource available in your local area, without reliance on a supplier or the market. You regain control of your long-term energy supply.

Decarbonising your heat production

Geothermal energy involves no combustion. It replaces fossil fuels, with a measurable impact from the very first year in your Scope 1 emissions reports or in your network’s renewable energy and recovery rate.

Benefit from stable and continuous production

Geothermal energy produces heat continuously, regardless of weather conditions. It is a reliable baseload source that secures your heat supply in the long term.

Access dedicated public funding

Geothermal projects can benefit from national and European public support schemes (CEE, ADEME’s Heat Fund, Innovation Fund, RRF), which significantly improve the project’s economic viability.

Let’s discuss your project

NEWHEAT support

Newheat integrates geothermal energy into your energy mix

Newheat develops, designs, finances and operates geothermal installations for industrial clients and district heating networks, either as stand-alone projects or as part of a multi-technology mix. Whether your project is at the feasibility stage or already fully defined, we provide support wherever you need it, from design through to operation.

Find out more about our approach

Audit and sizing

We analyse the geothermal characteristics of your area and assess the technical and economic feasibility of your project.

Design and construction

We design and build your system with performance commitments set out in the contract from the moment it is signed. Whether you’re working with an existing system or a new project, we design the integration to work seamlessly with your existing equipment.

Operation and maintenance

We manage, maintain and optimise your system throughout the contract period. You receive low-carbon heat without having to manage the system yourself.

Let’s assess your potential savings on your energy bill

Newheat provides you with renewable heat that is cheaper than your current solution, with a price indexed to the market of your choice: electricity, biomass or a sector-specific index. This allows you to maintain control over your costs and competitiveness. We can support you at whatever stage you need, from development through to the operation of the installation.
