Heat pump

Does your site generate waste heat, or does your local environment provide a heat source that can be utilised (ambient air, groundwater, rivers, waste water, etc.) ? Newheat captures it, raises its temperature to the level you require, and supplies you with competitive, low-carbon heat.

solution

What is a heat pump ?

A heat pump captures available heat, raises its temperature and delivers this heat at the level you need.

There are several types, suited to different contexts:

  • the compression heat pump, the most common type, efficient up to 90°C
  • the high-temperature compression heat pump, which meets the most demanding requirements up to 160°C
  • the absorption heat pump, which utilises waste heat or low-pressure steam to reach temperatures of up to 150°C .

The choice of type depends on your available and required temperature levels and the price of electricity you have access to.

How does a heat pump work?

A heat exchanger captures the available heat. A compressor raises its temperature. The heat is transferred to your process or heating network at the required temperature via another heat exchanger. It can operate on its own or in conjunction with another renewable source, particularly to utilise waste heat that is too low in temperature to be used directly.

When should you use a heat pump ?

Whenever you have a heat source to utilise or heat available at a temperature that is too low for your purposes. It meets requirements ranging from 60°C to 120°C, which covers the majority of processes in the food and drink, chemical and paper industries, as well as in district heating networks.

customer benefits

What you gain from installing a heat pump

Decarbonising heat production

Every MWh produced avoids several hundred kg of CO₂ compared to a gas boiler, a saving that can be accounted for from the very first year in your Scope 1 emissions reports or in your network’s renewable energy and recovery rate.

Securing the heat supply

By utilising energy available on your own site, you reduce your dependence on gas markets and their volatility.

Benefit from high energy efficiency

For every 1 kWh of electricity consumed, you recover 2.5 –5 kWh of heat. This efficiency directly reduces your primary energy consumption and your energy bill.

Rely on tried-and-tested technology

Heat pumps are mature, tried-and-tested technologies, widely used in France and across Europe.

Do you have unused heat on your site ?

A heat pump converts energy already present on your site or in your local environment into usable heat. We’ll help you manage your heating costs and implement this solution as an alternative to fossil fuels.

NEWHEAT SUPPORT

Newheat installs a heat pump in your processes

Newheat develops, designs, finances and operates heat pumps for industrial clients and district heating networks, either on their own or in combination with other technologies to maximise your low-carbon heat production.

Find out more about our approach

Audit and sizing

We map the available heat sources at your site (cooling water, condensate, exhaust air, waste water) and your heating requirements to select the type of heat pump and configuration best suited to your temperature levels.

Design and implementation

We design and install your system, with performance commitments set out in the contract from the moment it is signed.

Operation and maintenance

We manage the operation and maintenance of your heat pump throughout the contract period, with guarantees on minimum COP and annual heat output. You receive low-carbon heat without having to manage the installation.

How much could you save on your gas bill ?

Newheat provides you with renewable heat that is cheaper than your current solution, with a price indexed to the market of your choice: electricity, biomass or a sectoral index. This allows you to maintain control over your costs and competitiveness. We can assist at whatever stage you need, from development through to the operation of the installation.
