Newheat builds a low-carbon heat plant for Agrial in Herbignac

An infrastructure designed to evolve with industry

Designed, developed, financed and operated by Newheat under a long-term heat supply contract, this infrastructure combines renewable heat production, thermal storage, advanced control and a multi-process distribution network. Agrial does not have to invest or manage the engineering complexity: Newheat guarantees the heat supply for the full term of the contract. The infrastructure will supply 8 industrial consumers across 5 distinct processes, each with its own temperature levels and availability requirements, and is designed to progressively integrate new decarbonized heat sources.

France’s largest solar thermal plant

To supply this infrastructure with renewable heat, Newheat is building France’s largest solar thermal plant: 18.5 MWth of capacity, around 22,000 m² of solar collectors and a 4,000 m³ thermal storage tank, delivering close to 10,700 MWh of renewable heat per year.

Expected results: around 12% of natural gas avoided on-site, equivalent to nearly 1,360 tonnes of CO2 avoided per year, and over 34,000 tonnes over 25 years.

This 9th installation confirms Newheat’s ability to offer industrial companies durably competitive low-carbon heat compared to gas. As France’s new energy roadmap (PPE) targets doubling renewable heat production by 2032, this model offers industrial players a concrete, replicable answer.

With this project for Agrial, Newheat is designing a complete industrial heat infrastructure, combining production, storage and smart control of different decarbonized energy sources, to durably support industrial companies by reconciling economic performance and decarbonization.
