Solar thermal plant for Narbonne heating network: Ignition of works

We are delighted to announce the start of the work for the solar thermal plant expected to supply the heating network of Narbonne city, operated by the SNDC (Société Narbonnaise de Chauffage.

This project was financially supported by ADEME, as part of the “Fond Chaleur” (French Heat Fund) and by the Occitanie Region. It will be one of the largest solar thermal plants on a heating network in France, with 2,872 m² of collectors and a forecast thermal peak power of 2.3 MWth.

Thanks to this virtuous project, the energy mix of the heating network, based in the Saint-Jean-Saint-Pierre district, will reach a coverage of more than 70 % in renewable energies. The solar plant will also prevent more than 500 tons of CO2 emission per year.

This is the second solar thermal plant project on a heating network to be built in 2020 NewHeat after the project in the city of Pons whose contract signature was announced at the end of 2019.

See you next Autumn for the inauguration of the facility!
